Report by Dave Coleman

We dont win these sort of games! We dont keep clean sheets! I thought tonights performance was wonderfully controlled and considering the changes and injuries was very impressive. The first half we had most of the possession and created the only chances. Our first goal came from a mistake that was forced by Pereira who then played the perfect ball for Martial to score again with comfort. Coming just at the end of the half it was ideal to go into the break leading. Obviously the second half had to be different as Burnley had to change their normal game and try to push on. They had more pressure but De Gea only made 1 save and had to punch away 1 cross that apart l thought we defended well. Martial should have made it 2-0 when he inexplicably wasted a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper. From then we had the obligatory launching of the ball into our box hoping for a break by Burnley but we dealt with it really well. Then right near the end James broke away again and gave the ball to Rashford who rounded the keeper and scored with what l can only say was an interesting finish. I had to laugh at the outrage from Burnley fans at our “time wasting” considering their whole game is based on gamesmanship. The whole team performed well De Gea did all he had to do Lindelöf and Maguire were strong Young is no Wan Bissaka but he didnt let anyone down tonight. Matic had what must be his best game in a long time and Fred continues to improve the front 3 were excellent again particularly on the break. Pereira deserves credit again for his play as a number 10 and his hard work and great pass for the first goal. No doubt for me that Williams was MOTM he came in and was absolutely brilliant. We should also applaud Ole for his team selection that lm sure most criticised when it was announced but the result proved he was spot on. Next game is away at Arsenal on Wednesday in Premier League. Come on United! 🇾🇪
