Report by Dave Coleman

Comfortable win as it should have been. But we could have had so many more goals but due to poor final balls touch and finishing we had to settle for 3. The first half was incredibly frustrating because we had so many good opportunities to make chances but somehow failed to get it right at the crucial moment. The 2 most glaring were both Rashfords when he first miscontrolled and then seemingly to me missed his kick when he was played in alone on the goalkeeper. The second half had to be better yet strangely it was one of the few Colchester attacks that provided us with our first goal. A great clearance put Rashford racing into their area where he sidestepped 1 or 2 defenders and crashed the ball home. As long as he keeps doing this sort of thing l dont care about his mistakes. Within the next 10 minutes we had scored 2 more the first an own goal from Greenwoods cross then a Martial tap in from Rashfords cross. That was that there was no way Colchester were going to get back into the game. They had come to at best play for penalties or worst damage limitation. I think personally they should have had more of go at us they were under no pressure and could easily have made life very difficult for us. I thought every player made positive contributions but l would give Pereira MOTM because although he made some mistakes he was involved in everything and pretty much ran the midfield. Next match is away to Watford in Premier League on Sunday. Unfortunately we will be on a plane to Norway for Christmas while the match is being played so l will be looking very nervously at my phone when we land and l will be unable to write a match report! 🇾🇪
