Report by Dave Coleman

Bit of nerves at the end but we get the win to put us back on top of the league. We had a truly awful start to the game when a defensive mix up allowed Fulham to take the lead. From that moment on it was clear this wasnt going to be an easy 3 points for us. It took us a few minutes to clear our heads and start to dominate possession. We had few really dangerous moments but were in control. Then in the 20th minute Fernandes had a snap shot that hit the post and we finally looked capable of scoring. Soon afterwards Fernandes crossed from the left the goalkeeper fumbled and Cavani was there to crash home the equaliser. For the rest of the half we were on top but rarely had any great chances as Fulham defended really well and still looked as if the could break on us. The second half started with Fulham more on the front foot and causing us problems. But again we got on top and dominated possession without looking like scoring though we had a few headers from corners that should have been better. It was pretty much our attack against their defence with an occasional Fulham break. It looked as if we were going to struggle to get the goal we wanted until Pogba had the ball on the right took a couple of touches before hitting a worldy into the far corner. Now we had the lead l hoped we would be able to relax but credit to Fulham they kept trying although they seemed in the main to only be hitting long shots high over the bar. Right near they end their best attempt came when a header hit Bailly on the thigh but deflected just the right side of the post for us. Not a great performance again but who cares as long as we keep getting the 3 points. De Gea made a couple of decent saves but was left stranded for the goal. Shaw and Wan Bissaka both played well again defending and going forward though Wan Bissaka had some blame for the goal. Maguire and Bailly were mostly solid but both had some culpability with the Fulham goal. Fred was as energetic and lively as ever and didnt play badly. Pogba and Fernandes are clearly our most important players and thankfully when Fernandes hasnt quite got it right in 2 games recently Pogba has managed to score the winner. Martial is far below his best and most definitely needs to work on his interplay with Shaw as they constantly played each other the wrong passes. MOTM for me was Cavani who worked tirelessly all match never giving the Fulham defenders a seconds peace and scored the all important equaliser. Next match is on Sunday at Old Trafford against Liverpool in the FA Cup. Come on United! 🇾🇪
