Report by Dave Coleman

Another win another 3 points and the unbeaten run continues. The great thing about the match was that we won without playing that well for much of it, just as good teams do we found a way. Villa could consider themselves a little unlucky after being perhaps the better team for 25 minutes to then go 0-1 down to a dubious penalty. Fernandes was certainly in the box when the “foul” was committed the question is was it a foul. The referee thought it was and VAR agreed so we got the penalty and as expected Fernandes scored comfortably. We relaxed a little and were playing better though Villa were still in it. In first half injury time Martial won the ball on halfway passed to Greenwood who ran on to Villa’s 18 yard area gave it back to Martial who returned it again for Greenwood to power the ball into the net. Greenwood is a great player already at only 18 and what he can become is truly frightening. So 0-2 up at half time and looking good for the points. The second half began and the expected backlash from Villa never came and it became very easy for us. Surprisingly it took nearly 15 minutes to score our 3rd when Pogba scored from outside the area. That was that Villa were never coming back so we made many substitutions to give players rests. It was another game were we could have doubled our goals we had so many chances. Fernandes and Wan Bissaka missed easy headers Martial hit the bar Rashford was denied by the goalkeepers foot and we had many more opportunities to put in telling crosses or perhaps in Shaws case take shots on instead. We can be very happy with our present form and situation and be optimistic for the remainder of the season. Shaw had a good match as did Matic and Greenwood again was hugely impressive. But l thought for his overall game and also scoring the 3rd l make Pogba my MOTM. Next match is home to Southampton on Monday night in PL. Come on United! 🇾🇪
