Just the result we wanted and not a bad performance either. I think the first few minutes Sheffield United were slightly the better team without really threatening. But United started playing their way into the match and when Rashford got in down the right and smashed the ball across Martial reacted brilliantly to poke the ball home. To be honest looking back the match was over from that point. We were dominating almost totally and sadly Rashford messed up 2 very good chances. But it was only a matter of time and Wan Bissaka got in again down the right pulled the back and there again was Martial to stroke the ball home. All Sheffield United had done really was a few overhit corners just after the drinks break and one that De Gea punched away. The second half started with Sheffield trying to get back into it and they made one decent chance but the centre forward couldnt get his head to the ball. Apart from that it was more or less our attack against their defence. We played a lot of nice football and should have scored more goals. But the only other was Martial’s hat trick goal which was a great piece of football and a fantastic finish. We then had the unique spectacle of 5 substitutions in one go from United with the game safe. Nothing really changed and lghalo had a couple of chances to get on the scoresheet. I have to say it was a far more comfortable win than l expected but a well deserved one. De Ge made one punch and one incredibly easy save in what must have as easy a match as he has ever had. The defence was pretty good throughout though they had little to worry about. Midfield was excellent Matic hardly put a foot wrong Pogba was disciplined and effective in a deeper role and Fernandes was as ever the focal point for all that was good in our play. Greenwood was fairly quiet but made sure he couldnt be ignored Rashford played well but his finishing was abysmal. No doubt that with his first hat trick for United Martial was MOTM. It was a satisfying win and performance and continues our good run going and augurs well for the future. Next match is away to Norwich City in the FA Cup on Saturday evening. Come on United! 🇾🇪
