Report by Dave Coleman

As l fully expected a very tight game between 2 well matched teams. I thought Wolves shaded the first half being more dangerous going forward. Saying that United had quite a few attempts on goal most of which came from new boy Fernandes. The second half we had the most possession and spent much of the time in the Wolves half. There were a couple of scrambles in their box that seemed from my view to just need the right touch. But the best attempt came from a free kick again from Fernandes but it was comfortably saved by the goalkeeper. We most definitely need to improve our final ball if we want the goals for the pressure and possession we have. Martial was almost non existent today and there must be a case for putting him on the bench for the next game and starting either with Greenwood or perhaps even lghalo. James is very willing but seems to have burnt himself out and is certainly not the player he was at the start of the season. Pereira is not a wide man and is never going to be, he can do a decent job as a number 10 but is perhaps not good enough if we are to move forward. The rest of the team played reasonably enough Maguire and Lindelöf were solid enough and Wan Bissaka tackled well as always but still needs to improve going forward particularly as he seems to be our out ball most matches. Fred again put everything into the match and is vastly improved Mata was the main link up but was let down by Martial losing the ball far too often. Fernandes showed some good touches and has a nice willingness to shoot and will only get better as he gets used to the team and some of our injured players get back. I think Shaw was MOTM today and seems to be rising to the challenge of Williams for his position which can only be a good thing for us. It wasnt a great match and looked a 0-0 virtually from the start but Wolves are becoming one of the better teams in the league and certainly difficult to beat. Now we have a 16 day break before we have a vital away game to Chelsea in Premier League. Come on United! 🇾🇪
